The first day at CeBIT usually is not the busiest one. My personal impression today was another one, at least in the Open Source areas but also at all booths relating to E-Commerce like Softengine, one of our ERP partners. Tomorrow at 11 a.m. I’m invited to a panel discussion titled ‘Open-Source vs. Cloud Commerce’. Looks to become interesting… to be honest, at the moment I have absolutely no clue about what the ‘versus’ could mean in this context as Cloud Computing and Open Source are a perfect match in my opinion, but we will see. My expectation for tomorrow is that we will bring the discussion more to the question if Open Source or proprietary software will be the better platform for enterprise E-Commerce solutions. And even if we will not reach a conensus on that tomorrow, the answer should be quite clear for the future following the latest research and market data figuring out the fast growing impact of Open Source technology.
